Technology Integration is Here!
At the Academy of St. Therese technology is on the move. No longer do students have to go to the computer lab to access computers. Computers are movimg to them, every day, every class. Through our one-on-one initiative our students will have individually assigned chromebooks. This allows teachers to blend the latest technological innovations into learning activities at all times. We have completed one-on-one implementation for our eighth graders. We are currently in process of deployment for our 5th, 6th, and 7th graders. In addition, preschool through 4th grade learners will continue to have access to ipads and chromebooks on a shared basis.
Online Safety is Our Number One Priority.
At the Academy we are constantly concerned about the safety and wellbeing of our students. Just as we place barriers in our parking lots and post adult guards during recess, we place online barriers to protect chidren from a different sort of harm. We have provided managed student classroom accounts for each student, and implemented "Safe Search" restrictions on them. Inappropriate content is blocked, so that students can enjoy the benefits of global internet resources in a secure environment.
Online Classrooms Supplement Learning.
We have implemented the "Google Classroom" app for all teachers and students in grades 5 through 8. This allows teachers to actively manage student activity online, and assess student performance. The Classroom app provides access to the wide array of online resources available through the Google "G Suite for Education." This includes Google Docs, Google Slides, and enhanced Safe Search through Google Chrome. In addition, this software platform facilitates collaboration, allowing students to work together seamlessly, both at school and from home.
This is Tom Sites, Technology Integration Specialist at the Academy of St. Therese. I look forward to implementing the exciting new technology program we have put in place for our teachers and students. I welcome input from our parents, students, faculty and friends.
